Wow, I contacted Sharon's Heating & Air Conditioning regarding replacement of a water heater. They answered the call right away; they were thorough in asking questions regarding my interest and informed me that they would send someone out a few days later to take a look at the existing water heater and provide estimates. Sharon's Heating & Air Conditioning is so on top of things that I was able to have it installed the same day and received my inspection with flying colors a few days later within the same week. UPDATE (second visit):
My first experience with Sharon’s was a couple of years ago when I scheduled a furnace checkup that was eligible for reimbursement through DTE. Instead of having me pay out of pocket for the entire cost and deal with the reimbursement process myself, they simply had me sign the paperwork, pay the difference, and handled all the administrative work directly with DTE.
The technician who came out, Zach, was extremely thorough with the inspection and tune-up. He also took the time to give me helpful advice on how to properly maintain my furnace going forward. He was personable, professional, and left such a positive impression that I knew I would call Sharon’s again if I ever needed HVAC service.
Unfortunately, that moment came when the heat exchanger on my Takagi tankless water heater failed while still under the manufacturer’s warranty. Takagi initially directed me to contact another company to diagnose the issue. They came out and charged $119 for the diagnostic visit (which is fairly standard), but after determining the problem they informed me that the manufacturer would not honor the warranty replacement because the exact unit was no longer in stock anywhere. Instead, the manufacturer only offered a $900 credit toward a new unit.
After receiving replacement estimates ranging from $3,000 to $5,500, I was understandably frustrated. Something that was still under warranty was suddenly going to cost thousands of dollars to replace. Out of all the companies I spoke with, Sharon’s Heating & Air Conditioning was the only one willing to truly go to bat for me.
When Diane came out, she immediately took the situation seriously and began working with her team to advocate on my behalf. Sharon’s staff went above and beyond by negotiating directly with the manufacturer and the distributor, ultimately convincing them to accept my broken five-year-old unit as a warranty exchange. Because of their efforts, I only had to pay the difference for an upgraded unit and the labor for installation.
Ian handled the installation and did an outstanding job. The entire crew was professional, courteous, and incredibly respectful throughout the process.
What stood out the most, though, was their genuine empathy. My family and I had been dealing with two weeks of cold water, and Sharon’s treated the situation with urgency and understanding. It truly felt like they were advocating for us, not just completing another job.
In an industry where customer service can sometimes feel transactional, Sharon’s Heating & Air Conditioning proved that there are still companies that put people first. Their honesty, professionalism, and willingness to fight for their customers is rare.
